Cloning For Fun and Profit

Not too long ago scientists cloned a sheep. The feat was considered a major advance in science. The right and wrong of the whole thing have been flying around ever since. The sheep will eventually die, but the debate will most likely rage on forever.

Cloning could do a lot for the world. Once this technology is refined, and perfected, and we've got through all the red tape, and hoopla about regulating it, cloning will become a great asset to the human race. For now, however we can only speculate on the possible uses of cloning.

Some say cloning is "playing God", and it's wrong. Some say it's not natural, and we have no right to be fooling with it. Others go on about how it can be used to save human lives, and end suffering. What about other uses? Like for the military? What will cloning do for the economy? How about medical research? To clone or not to clone? That's the question, and the answer is yes.

Sure it may be "playing God", but what's so wrong about that? It seems that "playing God" is simply part of human nature. Children often "play grown up"; so what's wrong with us big people "playing God"? After all we do it all the time anyway.

Look at modern medicine, it's really just a large collection of schemes designed to either cheat death, or defeat our natural physical limitations. Whether you've got a stuffy nose, or you were born blind, medicine is always looking for a way to fix you up. If the kidneys you were born with fail you, you can borrow one from a friend or loved one. That sounds like it would require one all-powerful being or another, yet doctors have been transplanting kidneys for quite some time. Somehow no one seems to have a problem with that.
