An Economical Approach
to Crime and Punishment

A lengthy appeals process has been put into place so that we can avoid executing innocent men, and cannot be removed due to the competence our current criminal justice system is lacking. Fortunately under my system this is not a worry, for if an innocent man is put into battle, he will surely be saved by a higher power, and his matches won until his innocence is proven. While this argument may not satisfy everyone, as no argument can, it is my belief that it will please the maximum number of people, for a recent nation wide poll indicated that 86% of Americans believe in God (Gallup). While we may not be able to trust in the decision of a court made of men, we can clearly trust in the power of the Lord.

The benefits of my system are undeniable, however, if a more cost-effective plan were presented, I would gladly support it, for I have only the interests of the common good in mind. Though criminal corrections may never become a self-sustaining industry, the costs could certainly be reduced, the trial made expedient, the losses minimized, and the maximum benefits utilized.
